The Bahamas Ministry of Tourism Media Dinner

Written by

Washington DC: Breathtaking beaches, fine cuisine, vibrant entertainment life and natural wonders, it's no surprise that more than five million people visit The Islands of The Bahamas each year!

I was honored to be invited by The Bahamas Ministry of Tourism to attend their media dinner held in Washington D.C. We gathered at the12th annual Washington D.C. Travel & Adventure Show held at the Washington Convention Center before heading to the private dinner at Ruth's Chris Steak House in North West. Big shout out to Miss Bahamas Universe and singer Khiara Sherman for rocking the crowd with her energetic performance at the Travel & Adventure! Way to represent the 242!

Over a delicious conversation, Jeannie Gibson, District Manager of Communications at Bahamas Ministry of Tourism gave us a firsthand insight into the wonderful things that are happening in Bahamas!

Here's why you should travel to The Islands of The Bahamas ASAP!

It's Easy to Get There:For all my folks in the DC and Baltimore area, look no further for a quick gateway! Traveling to The Islands of The Bahamas is easy and fast! Jet Blue Airlines is offering direct flights from Washington’s Reagan National Airport to the Lynden Pindling International Airport. The service will be offered daily until May 3. So get your tickets ASAP! Southwest Airlines also provide direct daily service to Nassau but there are also connecting flights on other airlines including Delta's one-stop service over Atlanta to Grand Bahama and three of their family Islands- Eleuthera, Exuma and Abaco! Major perks!

The Junkanoo Carnival: The Junkanoo Carnival is a premier destination event for non-stop vibes! Enjoy cultural performances, live concerts, street parades and so much more! I'm a lover of all things carnival so this is definitely my scene! The Bahamas Junkanoo Carnival season kicks off Easter Monday and ends on May 7th, 2016 with major events taking place across two islands: Grand Bahama, April 14th-16th and Nassau, May 5th-7th.

Natural Wonders:It's no secret that the islands of the Bahamas are blessed with eye catching natural beauty. Whether you're a thrill seeker or laid back explorer, Bahamas offers a wide range of adventure to fit any appetite! The Glass Window Bridge, Underwater Caves and Tongue of the Ocean are all on my bucket list!

Special thanks to The Bahamas Ministry of Tourism for a memorable evening! From the moment I arrived I was treated with nothing but hospitality at its finest! I encourage everyone to travel to The Islands of the Bahamas and experience the action for yourself! Trust me, you’ll love it! I can't wait to explore! So here is the deal! I was approached by Fount Group to partner with Grammy nominated gospel singer and fashion entrepreneur Kierra “Kiki” Sheard for their Eleven60 Pop-up Shop Tour! EVENT RECAP: Hosting Empire Strikes Baltimore!

Written by

What a fabulous night! I had an amazing time emceeing “Empire Strikes Baltimore,” a fundraising party to benefit University of Maryland University College’s Arts Program! Hosted by Galerie Myrtis, the night highlighted Maryland, Washington, D.C. and Virginia artist and honor artist  those featured on Empire; Jeffrey Kent, Jamea Richmond-Edwards and Arvie Smith. If you watch Empire, you probably have seen their beautiful artwork in the background. Pretty awesome if you ask me!

Attendees enjoyed the sounds of sultry vocals of Baltimore’s Joyce Scott, who was accompanied by keyboardist Derrick Thompson. The night also included impersonators of the "Empire" cast, Larkis Webber as Lucious Lyons and Tracey Farrar as Cookie Lyons! They did a fantastic job! I had blast hanging out with you guys and meeting my fellow art lovers! If you haven't already, please check out Galerie Myrtis! The gallery is AMAZING!
